Do you want help designing a bespoke Wedding, Interior or Styling, but still want to feel very much involved? Then The Designer Box is perfect for you! Just in case you wanted a sneak peek into how it works, then this is how we build your tailor-made concept.

If you’re unsure of what The Designer Box actually is, then click here to read Everything You Need To Know.  Designing your concept is extremely exciting for us! We take information you give us, your questionnaire and inspirational images, and create a design that represents your unique style. Don’t worry, if you’re unsure on your style, then we also have a Find My Style Test that helps to solve this.

To build your box, we need to get to know you! We start by analysing your questionnaire – each and every question. Some are style related, some aren’t. Each question helps put together an image of who you are, helping us to design a scheme that suits you. For example, a non-style related question might be: Where do you like to go on holiday? In comparison, a style related question could ask you: Do you like solid colours or patterns? For this concept, the answers I was given were “Europe – France, Italy, Spain,” and “Solid Colour.” Your answers help to determine who you are and therefore what styles you’d prefer. These tell me that this person likes a more formal style and, like these European cities, contemporary design with traditional elements.

We review all your information so that we can design a scheme that best suits you and your unique sense of style.

To create your concept, we start by looking at the factors that are most important to you. For an interior questionnaire, it asks: Is there anything that you’ve always wanted in your home? For this example, the answer was “Herringbone flooring.” Since we’re aware that this is what the client really wants, this is where we start the design process.

There are different options that we can consider fulfilling this factor. Herringbone flooring is elegant and popular but can be very expensive. For an example such as this, The Designer Box could purpose the alternative use of Chevron flooring. It achieves a very similar style yet offers a more contemporary finish. It can also work out cheaper than Herringbone. For my client, who has a contemporary, formal style, Chevron flooring would suit their design.

Once the important factors have been solved, the little things start to fall into place. My client wanted to focus on the floor and on a sofa that they could invest in. We prioritise your priorities, so we can guarantee a Designer Box you’ll love!

We’ll create layout plans, conceptual mood boards and collate samples for you. In your Designer Box, you’ll receive three concepts – but we will focus on Concept One. From the research we’ve gathered from you, we put together Colour Concept and Style Concept Mood Boards. These will summarise the style and colour of your design. We then produce a 3D Sketch Drawing so that you can clearly visualise what your design will look like.

Every element of our design process will be documented and packed into the box - This will allow you to confidently design your Wedding, Interior or Styling.

Alongside these visual elements, we create layout plans showing clearly where everything is meant to go. These will be inside your concept folders, along with a budget breakdown, list of suppliers and documentation for booking or ordering. We compile these documents to make sure the process is as easy as possible for you to complete.

One of my favourite parts of the process is creating a flat-lay scheme. We will photograph this and include it in your document folders. The flat-lay will show elements of your scheme, such as fabric or paint samples, styled next to each other. This creates an image that you can clearly reference – an impression of what your finished design will look like.
